Personal Introduction

Originally from upstate New York, I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Oswego. I then relocated to Baltimore, where I achieved Cum Laude honors again at the University of Baltimore School of Law and the Merrick School of Business, earning a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration concurrently in just three years. I launched my legal career as a public servant, working as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Anne Arundel County. As a prosecutor, I gained extensive courtroom experience, successfully trying cases before both judges and juries to secure convictions for a wide range of crimes. One of my notable achievements was the prosecution of the “Jockey Murderer,” which resulted in a first-degree murder conviction and a 50-year sentence for a former racehorse jockey who stalked, stabbed, and killed a woman after a bar dispute. After several years of serving the people of Anne Arundel County, I transitioned to private practice at an Annapolis law firm, where I defended doctors and hospitals in multimillion-dollar lawsuits. I handled jury trials across Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia, routinely finding success in defending medical malpractice cases. However, after witnessing the devastating consequences faced by patients and their families due to medical malpractice, I recognized the need to advocate for the victims rather than big business. Having gained critical knowledge from my experience working with large insurance companies, I now leverage this understanding to empower clients who have fallen victim to nursing home abuse and medical malpractice. My commitment to justice and empathy for the victims guide my mission to secure compensation for the injured and hold negligent parties accountable. My legal skills have been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers, with the prestigious distinction of “A Rising Star” in Maryland from 2014 through 2021 and as a Super Lawyer from 2022 to the present. I have also been acknowledged for my outstanding achievements and professionalism by several other legal associations, including being named among the Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers from 2017 to 2022. Additionally, the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys included me among the Top 10 Personal Injury Attorneys Under 40 in Maryland. While I’ve received numerous accolades and honors from my peers, the most meaningful recognition comes from my grateful clients through their positive testimonials, earning my reputation in the Maryland community as a trusted legal professional for victims of personal injuries. I am also a proud member of the Multi-Million Dollar and Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an accomplishment that demonstrates my successful efforts fighting for my clients. Maryland’s legal environment is marked by tort reform restrictions on noneconomic damages available to victims, and becoming a certified life member of this group means joining the ranks of less than 1% of U.S. lawyers. My inclusion in this forum is a testament to my hard-fought efforts in obtaining multi-million dollar verdicts, awards, and settlements for my clients.

Personal Interests & Charitable Work

Outside of fighting for my clients, I indulge in my upstate New York heritage by actively participating in local ice hockey leagues. While I strive to enhance my golf game during the summer, my shot is definitely better suited for hockey. I live in Annapolis with my family, including my wife Suzanne, our son Brooks, daughters Quinn and Adeline, and our beloved rescue dog, Koco, who completes our loving household
