Demitrus Evans

Personal Introduction

Demitrus Evans, JD, LLM is the Managing Attorney for TEIL Firms which began in Westchester in 2009. The firm’s three (3) focus areas are Contract Drafting/ Litigation, Intellectual Property Protection, and International Trade Compliance. Demitrus also arbitrates for Cook County Courts and is a Mediator in the Federal District Court. She often is asked to speak on international contractual issues and Women in Law and Business. Attorney Evans holds licenses in the Illinois Appellate Court, and Supreme Court as well as maintains a license in the Northern District Trial Bar, the United States Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit, and the International Court of Trade. She earned her BA from Denison University, and J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in Miami, Florida, where she worked on Asylum for Haitian, and Guantanamo Bay refugees, utilizing her French. She studied International Constitutional Law at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and holds an LLM in International Trade with a Finance Concentration from John Marshall Law School, Chicago, and an Entrepreneurial Studies Certificate from the Joseph School of Business, Forest Park, Illinois. She is the founder of the non-profit, The TEEP Project, lectures on business law, and advocates for International Business trade/ expansion as the board chairperson for the Chicago Chapter of the Global Chamber of Commerce. She is the Secretary for the African Chamber of Commerce and a member of the JEC Committee for the Black Women Lawyers’ Association. Demitrus and TEIL Firms have received several awards including Global Entrepreneur of the Year, Diversity MBA Magazine’s Top 100 Executives under 50, won a nomination for Nesbit’s Global Award, named in America’s Top Black Lawyers, and most recently an awardee of the GC’s Innovation in Business & Excellence Award 2023. However, being a wife, mother, marathoner, and dog lover is what she is most proud of.
