Personal Interests & Charitable Work
Emily loves to devote her time and talents to causes she is passionate about. She is an active volunteer as well as the treasurer and a member of the board of directors of ENGin, a nonprofit organization that connects Ukrainians with fluent English speakers so that they can improve their English and help their country recover and develop through business, tourism, diplomacy, and cultural exchange. Emily is a regular volunteer with HTX4Ukraine, which provides nonlethal equipment and supplies to Ukrainian military units. She also serves as a member and past chair of the Houston Grand Opera Young Patrons Circle Committee, is a member of the Houston Symphony Young Associates Council, and is a dedicated piano student at the University of Houston Moores School of Music Community Arts Academy. She spent five years on the board of directors of the Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity, four of those years as treasurer, during a tremendous period of heightened growth and prominence for the organization. In her spare time, Emily enjoys playing classical piano, cooking with her husband Ryan, learning languages, reading, traveling, cross-stitching, and attending the opera, symphony, and theatre. She is an avid scuba diver and certified as a PADI Rescue Diver. Emily can generally be found in the Montrose neighborhood of Houston, attempting to wrangle her beagle, Olena, and her French bulldog, Marty.
