James Beckwith's journey in law began at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor (JD) in 2018. During his time there, he demonstrated exemplary leadership as both the President and Treasurer of the student body, showcasing his natural ability to unite and inspire others. Additionally, he was a member and coach of the Trial Team where he competed in and coached his team through various Federal Trial Advocacy Competitions across the country. Driven by his passion for trial advocacy, James further honed his skills through litigation-intensive study at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, and St. Hughes College at Oxford University, UK. It was during this time that James distinguished himself as a powerful and persuasive advocate, earning himself the nickname "The Closer." In addition to hitting the books, he was adamant about gaining practical experience. While in law school he spent his summers working criminal trials at the District Attorney of Philadelphia and the USAG JAG Corps Appellate Division in Washington D.C. His ability to skillfully present complex legal arguments and persuasively communicate with judges and juries became his hallmark.
