I focus on cases involving fraud and unfair trade practices, copyright infringement, lender liability, and real property claims. I principally represent plaintiffs, but have also defended businesses in complex litigation matters. I have extensive experience litigating before both juries and judges, and regularly appear in federal and bankruptcy courts in North Carolina and other states, as well as in North Carolina state courts. I also serve as a Subchapter V bankruptcy trustee in the Middle District of North Carolina. I have appeared on CBS This Morning, WRAL, ABC 11 and News 14 Carolinas, and stories about my cases have been featured on The Today Show, Good Morning America, and CNN and been published in North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, The Raleigh News & Observer, The Triangle Business Journal, and in newspapers and on news web sites across the country. Representative cases: Represented Plaintiff in case that resulted in $3 million settlement of copyright infringement claim in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Represented group of over a dozen investors in securities fraud case in North Carolina’s Business Court. Plaintiffs' counsel in Sherman Act case U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina that resulted in a seven-figure jury verdict. Plaintiff’s counsel in bankruptcy stay violation action, resulting in high six-figure settlement. Plaintiff’s counsel in numerous lender liability actions against national banks. Local counsel in complex insurance coverage matter in North Carolina State Court that resulted in eight-figure settlement.
