Personal Introduction

With almost 20 years of legal experience, Jim has experienced a little bit of everything. From negotiating seven figure settlements for injured workers to litigating multi-million dollar marital estates, to securing trademark protection for emerging growth businesses. While it took Jim some time to find his niche, he ultimately settled on advising small businesses, entrepreneurs and startups on all stages of their business growth journey. From securing the legal rights to their names and branding, to negotiating licensing deals allowing companies to add additional streams of income, to enforcing trademark rights, Jim enjoys the thrill of working with founders as they grow their business. Jim believes in lifelong learning and is frequently asked to lecture for CLE’s and has built a loyal following on Youtube (160,000 subs and counting) through his witty, easy to understand and humorous legal educational videos that discuss such topics as entity formation, trademarks, common legal mistakes and more. Since 2022, Jim and his family have resided in Lisbon, Portugal. Having scratched the itch of living abroad, he will be returning to Cary, North Carolina later this fall. Aside from helping clients and planning a return to North Carolina, Jim is currently putting the finishing touches on his new book, Make Your Mark, which will published in the fall of 2023.
