Personal Introduction

Jeff joined Goetz Schenker Blee & Wiederhorn in 2010 and is a partner in the firm’s New York office with a defense oriented role that focuses on premises/tort liability, property damage, insurance coverage, and Labor Law claims. In addition to these practice areas, over time, Jeff has have developed a significant subrogation practice with various insurance companies in the Northeast region. With regard to subrogation claims that require litigation, he has developed an efficient approach that streamlines the discovery process. Jeff has realized success with the unique strategy of filing of motions for summary judgment as to liability. See, Cambridge Mutual Fire Insurance Company a/s/o Judith A. Zaino – v. – P.O.B. Electric, Inc., 164 A.D.3d 642 (2nd Dept. 2019), which was affirmed on Appeal (Index No.: 604313/2015). This tactic forces defense entities and carriers to candidly assess their exposure for the file at an early stage of the life of the file, rather than delay settlement discussions. As defense counsel for the past 20 years, Jeff has brought over 1,000 cases to conclusion by either settlement, verdict, or appeal. In March 2020, Jeff obtained a defense verdict on behalf of Burger King Corporation in, Joy Mata v. 3G Capital et al., Index No.: 101310-2013. Furthermore, Jeff has appeared and argued before the Appellate Courts in New York on many occasions. Jeff graduated from Columbia University in 2000 and received his law degree from New York Law School in 2003. He is admitted to practice in New York State and Federal Courts (Southern and Eastern Districts). Jeff’s litigation experience and favorable reputation in the legal industry is an asset for all of his clients.
