Personal Introduction

Joy has been a legal advocate for entrepreneurs and emerging growth companies for over 16 years. She provides a broad range of business services -- everything from forming a company to securing funding from investors, engaging with customers and vendors and even selling to the acquirer of your dreams (or nightmares). She enjoys helping clients work through the challenges that come with starting, maintaining and selling a business and has extensive experience in M&A transactions, international re-domestications and technology agreements. She started her career in 2006 as part of the Corporate, M&A and Securities group at K&L Gates LLP in Portland, Oregon. Later, she left for an in-house position at a solar energy startup company, working remotely in Africa and Asia. Joy joined White Summers as a Senior Associate in 2011. After briefly leaving the firm to work in-house for one of her clients, Joy returned in 2017 and was recently welcomed to the firm’s partnership. She currently works from our Portland office. Joy received her J.D. from the University of Oregon law school in 2006 and a B.S. in Business Administration and International Studies from the University of Oregon in 2003. Joy is admitted to the bar in Oregon.
