Personal Introduction
Welcome to the Law Office of Katelyn C. Keegan, where compassion meets expertise. As a dedicated advocate and legal professional, I am committed to providing personalized solutions in the realm of wills, trusts, and estates. Allow me to share a bit about my journey. Education: I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in May 2022, laying the foundation for my legal career. Subsequently, I was admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland in November 2022 and New Jersey in June 2024. My educational journey also includes a Bachelor of Arts from American University in 2005 and a Master of Public Administration in 2007, as well as a graduate certificate from Georgetown University. I have also taken extensive coursework in American Sign Language at Gallaudet University and Grant Writing at Middlesex County College (NJ). Passion and Advocacy: My advocacy extends beyond the courtroom. I am the voice behind "Legally Autistic," a thought-provoking blog on Facebook where I delve into the intricate intersection of legal issues and the challenges faced by disabled and autistic individuals. This passion has become a driving force in my career, motivating me to establish a solo practice. In law school, recognizing the need for a platform that amplifies the voices of disabled students, I founded the University of Baltimore Disabled Law Students Association (DLSA). Serving as a catalyst for change, DLSA aimed to remove barriers and enhance accessibility in both legal education and the legal profession. Additionally, I proudly served on the national board for DLSA as the Director of Professional Development. Professional Mission: In establishing my solo practice, my primary focus is on wills, trusts, and estates. I am driven by a deep-seated desire to assist families, especially those with disabled members, in securing their futures. My mission is to provide peace of mind through meticulous planning and legal expertise. Holistic Approach: I believe in a holistic approach to legal representation, considering not only the legal intricacies but also each client's unique needs and circumstances. My goal is to empower families to navigate the complexities of estate planning confidently. Community Involvement: I am a member of the Montgomery County Emergency Response Team (MC-CERT), a volunteer organization under the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services. As a member since 2012, I have served in a variety of roles with the organization including as Treasure, Social Media Vice Chair and currently as Chair of the Virtual Emergency Response Team. I also currently serve as the Treasurer of the Montgomery County Community Emergency Response Team Foundation, Maryland, a non-profit designed to support the efforts of outreach of the MC-CERT organization. Whether you are planning for the future, navigating the intricacies of probate, or addressing the unique needs of a disabled family member, I am here to guide you through every step.
