Ken Friedman

Personal Introduction

After beginning his career at a large, international law firm, Ken has continued his career as a C-suite executive, general counsel, and advisor to disruptive companies. Ken serves on multiple advisory boards and is available for consulting. Ken was most recently the General Counsel and Chief Industry Officer for Divorce.com and its portfolio of family law companies, where he played a leading role in building the foundation of the company as it remakes the family law landscape. He was previously the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at LegalZoom.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: LZ). His initial job at LegalZoom was to analyze and balance risks to ensure the company’s survival during a time of both hypergrowth and relentless attacks from the legal establishment. As LegalZoom’s former CEO described it, he crafted the longer-term strategy to protect LegalZoom on its journey. The role consistently evolved as LegalZoom thrived and the attacks subsided. Before joining LegalZoom, Ken practiced at global law firm Sidley Austin LLP. Ken was named one of California's 10 leading deputy general counsel by the Los Angeles Daily Journal. He is a member of the American Bar Association, where he is a Founding Member of the State Attorneys General and Department of Justice Issues Committee, and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
