Personal Introduction
Attorney Maria N. Berger has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 2000. She received her J.D. in 1999 from the University of Illinois College of Law, where she was a member of the Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif and Summa Cum Laude, 3rd in her class. She practiced at Sidley & Austin in Chicago, IL during law school before starting her own practice in 2002 in Ogle County. Since then, she has handled hundreds of family disputes, including divorces, allocation of parenting responsibilities (formerly custody and visitation), child support, and Orders of Protection. Also an experienced Guardian Ad Litem and Mediator, Attorney Berger brings a unique problem-solving approach to all of the cases she handles. Attorney Berger is the current President of the Ogle County Bar Association. She is active in the Illinois State Bar Association, serving on the Standing Committee for Electronic Legal Research, and is a current member and Past Editor-in-Chief of the Editorial Board for the Illinois Bar Journal. Maria is also a court-approved mediator, and mediates family, business, personal injury and other civil disputes.
