My personal passion project is mental health advocacy in the anime fan community. Surveys and studies show that anime fans have been bullied at 3 times the national average and that they suffer higher rates of depression and anxiety than the general population. The anime fan community also has a very high percentage of trans youth who statistically need more support when it comes to mental health. What began as an outreach ministry in 2010 is now a nonprofit ("Kumihimo") with 3 branches nationally. We've been able to impact thousands with the simple message: YOU ARE LOVED JUST AS YOU ARE.
