Personal Interests & Charitable Work

Mark Javitch is the founder and director of the Jewish Community Advocacy Council (JCAC), a California nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to combating antisemitism through litigation, public education, and community advocacy. Through JCAC, Mark brings the same plaintiff-side litigation tools he uses in federal court to bear on one of the most pressing civil rights challenges facing Jewish communities today. Mark is also a historian and author specializing in the Kennedy assassination and the Zapruder film. His research — published at zapruderhistory.com — draws on original archival sources, computational image analysis, and active FOIA litigation in federal court to examine one of the most consequential evidentiary records in American history. He is currently completing a book-length study of the Zapruder film's legal and documentary history. Mark is an active member of his San Mateo school community and enjoys table tennis.
