Personal Introduction

There are a few key qualities to how I practice. First, I place an enormous emphasis on precise and thoughtful writing. Multiple clients have told me I am the best writer they have ever worked with, and I pride myself on that level of satisfaction. Second, trust and empathy are central to how I work with clients and colleagues. Third, I am a fast learner and enjoy the challenge of learning new facts, a new industry, or using my skills in a new area of litigation. By thinking critically about how we like to work and how we offer value, we can do our best work together.

Practice Summary

I have experience in several areas of litigation and investigations, but a few areas have become my specialty. First, I represent whistleblowers in a variety of programs, including qui tam actions under the False Claims Act, the SEC Whistleblower Program, the CFTC Whistleblower Program, and the IRS Whistleblower Program. My work representing whistleblowers has covered a variety of issues and sectors, including healthcare fraud, Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) fraud, contract and procurement fraud, securities fraud, tax fraud, and others. I have also helped whistleblowers with employment-related and retaliation issues. I have done this work at a variety of stages, including initial case development, as substitute counsel, in settlement negotiations, and litigation. Second, I have diverse experience and a diverse practice in appeals. I have briefed, argued, and won appeals in state and federal courts. I have written briefs at every level of appellate court, including the Supreme Court. I have handled appeals in a variety of substantive areas, including civil rights, commercial litigation, constitutional law, consumer rights, criminal law, environmental regulations, False Claims Act and other whistleblower issues, and more. Third, I have experience in a variety of complex civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on defamation (both plaintiff and defense) and disputes in the legal cannabis sector.
