Personal Introduction
Born in Pune, India, and raised in Miami, Florida, I am a Miami-Indian at heart. After completing my undergraduate studies in International Finance and Marketing and Philosophy from the University of Miami, I embarked on a two-year adventure to India as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, where I obtained a master's in social work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai) with a specialization in Urban and Rural Community Development. During my time in India, I established and implemented business development strategies amongst women’s Self-Help Groups in slum and rural areas of India. I helped these groups structure small businesses and obtain microfinancing for start-up capital and ongoing operations. Additionally, I helped each group create a sustainable model for productivity and growth by doing research on credit-plus services that could be offered based on each group’s industry, which helped borrowers achieve better business success and in turn, helped microfinance lending institutions increase their debt recovery rates. After my time in India, I returned to Miami, Florida where I obtained my Juris Doctor from Florida International University. I enjoy utilizing my background in finance, marketing, philosophy, and social work in my legal practice.
