Personal Introduction
Mervate Mohammad graduated with a Cum Laude and Honors from Loyola University of Chicago with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Political Science and a double minor in Islamic World Studies and International Studies. Mervate earned her Juris Doctorate Degree at the John Marshall Law School, is licensed to practice in Illinois and has earned her Federal General Bar admission to the Northern District of Illinois Supreme Court. Attorney Mervate has further been trained as a Mediator through Northwestern University Mediation Program. Mervate has the experience and passion for the law to handle your legal needs. She has worked as a licensed attorney and clerk serving various law firms concentrating on Family and Corporate Law. Mervate is bilingual, being fluent in Arabic including reading and writing the Arabic language. Mervate handles all stages of family law matters including divorce, legal separation, orders of protection, and parentage cases. She is further trained to mediate cases involving divorce, custody, child support and family-related issues. Mervate has an outstanding reputation for working and listening to her clients’ needs and putting her clients first. She aggressively advocates for her clients and puts their needs and goals as the priority in all settlements, negotiations, and litigation in and outside the courtroom. Mervate is an Adjunct Professor of Family Law and currently teaches Family Law for Paralegals at Moraine Valley Community College. Mervate is an active member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Arab American Bar Association, Muslim Bar Association, and Illinois Bar Association. She is very active in the local community and is always looking to give back through various community service projects and her involvement in a number of non-profit organizations. Mervate enjoys running, hiking, gardening and swimming during her free time. Mervate loves spending time with her family and friends, as immersing herself with those closest to her reminds her of why she choose to practice as an attorney.
