Personal Introduction

My path to law wasn’t laid out in front of me; it rose from personal adversity. Several years ago, my family’s life turned upside down when my husband became a victim of a violent crime. We struggled with workers’ compensation and social security disability, losing almost everything. One day, as we were being evicted from our apartment, I tripped, carrying a basket of clothes to the car. I laid on the ground, feeling helpless and lower than I had ever felt and I knew, at that moment, that the justice system had failed us. Fueled by frustration and a fierce desire for change, I began my journey to law school determined to prevent anyone else from feeling as helpless as we did.
