Personal Introduction

Nate’s foray into the law came about naturally. He is one of the fourth generation of his family to attend law school at the University of Michigan (his great-grandfather graduated in 1902). Growing up, Nate often was grilled Socratic-method style by his many aunts, uncles and cousins about legal issues and forced down the slippery slope. Nate knew at a young age that he wanted to be a lawyer, and it shows in how passionate he is about the law and helping people. Nate is not afraid to try cases or make an argument, even knowing he will lose, because he knows it is the right thing to do. Nate began his legal career at one of Milwaukee’s largest law firms, where he worked his way to becoming the first African-American equity partner in that Firm’s 170 year history. He then transitioned to a national office of a law firm with over 18 offices, where he served as general counsel and partner. In March 2013, Nate opened his law firm with a vision of providing top notch legal services to clients, free from the restrictions of a physical office. His idea of a truly virtual litigation-boutique law firm was realized, where people are not measured by time in the office, but results and furthering the law. Some might say he is our resident law nerd. While in law school at Michigan, Nate served on Michigan’s Journal of International Law and was the law school treasurer. As an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, Nate did lots of cool things like having his own column for the school paper and being in a fraternity, and he really enjoyed his time in Philadelphia. But the coolest thing he did was his stint as the school mascot, The Quaker. Nate serves on a number of community boards, including Legal Action of Wisconsin and the Technology Innovation Center (formerly the Milwaukee County Research Park), and is a Master in the Thomas Fairchild American Inn of Court. He previously served on the boards of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bar Association and Milwaukee Young Lawyers, was very active in the American Bar Association, and even served on the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Ethics Committee as well as the ABA’s Standing Ethics Committee. And for fun, Nate currently serves as an arbitrator with FINRA and decided to become a licensed realtor.
