Practice Summary

Sara focuses her practice on supporting her clients in their business ventures and protecting their assets via estate planning and prenuptial/postnuptial agreements. Sara is also one of the few attorneys in CA who works closely with financial advisors to successfully obtain QDRO's for their clients who are NOT divorcing and instead wishing to manage their marital assets in different ways. Sara is one of the founding partners at Ovando Bowen, LLP. During her time in undergraduate school, she had the opportunity to work at the Long Beach Courthouse Self-Help Center. It was there that she gained valuable experience in family law and landlord-tenant law. Sara found great satisfaction in assisting clients with their legal matters, which ultimately led her to shift her focus from pursuing a Ph.D./Psy.D. program to pursuing a J.D. program. After successfully passing the California bar exam, Sara joined a small firm in Orange County where she focused on personal injury, bankruptcy and employment law. Sara earned a B.A. in psychology and a B.A. in sociology from California State University, Long Beach. During her undergraduate years, she obtained her esthetician license and Yoga certification. Later, she pursued her J.D. with a focus on intellectual property at the John Marshall School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Recently, Sara also delved into the field of financial planning. Sara was born in Orange County and grew up there. Her family is from Guatemala, so she speaks Spanish fluently. Before becoming an attorney, Sara worked as an esthetician and obtained certification as a yoga instructor. She has a deep love for animals and has aspirations of opening her own farm sanctuary. Sara finds joy in the beauty industry, exploring different parts of the world and expanding her language skills (currently learning French and Mandarin). In addition to all this, she is a dedicated mother.
