Personal Introduction

Tobey Blanton Forney has over two decades of experience in tax, estate planning, and tax-exempt organizations law. Her goal is to help her clients and their families avoid court and conflict at incapacity or death, and enable tax-exempt entities, social entrepreneurs and visionaries to make the world a better place by advising them on the set up and operation of the legal entities needed to accomplish their goals. Tobey has two decades of experience advising clients on a wide variety of tax and tax-exempt matters. After graduating from Rice University, she attended the University of Texas School of Law, where she was a member of the Texas Law Review. She began her legal career with Vinson & Elkins in Houston, where she practiced estate planning and developed a track record of highly successful negotiations with the Internal Revenue Service on behalf of multinational corporations, high net worth individuals, private foundations and public charities. She also spent three years as General Counsel and COO of a financial software firm in New York City. After several years at big law, Tobey decided to step out on her own and open Forney Law PLLC. Tobey is licensed to practice law in Texas and New York. In her spare time, she writes novels and screenplays and practices ashtanga yoga. She lives in Houston, Texas with her husband and three children. Tobey has been named a Texas Super Lawyer – Rising Star in Tax Law.
