Personal Introduction

Many attorneys call themselves in start-up lawyers, but don’t have the expertise to address an emerging company's most important issues. At Ahaji Amos, PLLC, we have the experience to assist our small business clients at every stage from consulting on product development, refinement, manufacturing, and distribution, through business structuring and formation, patent, copyright, trade secret, and trademark protection, to exit, and litigation, if necessary. We are patent and trademark attorneys who can handle all small business needs from getting your company a patent pending through filing a provisional patent application, protecting your invention using utility patent applications, conducting trademark searches, and filing trademark applications on business names and logos, defending trademark oppositions and trademark cancelations, FDD review, UDRP complaints and actions, and small business litigation. Ahaji is a serial entrepreneur and started Ahaji Amos, PLLC with the specific intention of being a one-stop-shop for new businesses. She understands the unique needs of small business owners, and entrepreneurs, and knows how to both mitigate risk in a company’s early stages, and how to increase a company’s value through aggressive and efficient intellectual portfolio protection and sound business structure and practice. Ahaji takes great pride in educating entrepreneurs so that together their businesses can reach their full potential while avoiding risk. Her past business ventures include logistics (Amazon Logistics DSP), franchising (Kiddie Academy and The UPS Store), and healthcare (US Medical Supplies). In her 23 year career as a patent and trademark attorney, she has prosecuted over 100 patent, trademark and copyright applications in a wide range of technology areas, including medical devices, electronic medical record systems and other medical technologies, mechanical, biotechnological, agricultural, semiconductors, food, fire retardants, drilling, and oil and gas. Her experience goes well beyond transactional intellectual property work. She has business litigation experience as well as intellectual property litigation skills. She has successfully written appellate briefs to the Federal Circuit and won on summary judgment for significant intellectual property infringement cases. In addition to working in her companies and top law firms, Ahaji has worked in the healthcare industries. She has experience at both Duke University Health System and the University of North Carolina Health System. Having worked in strategic planning at both universities, she is well versed in revenue cycle matters and related software. This experience is critical when representing start-ups who have developed electronic medical record software.
