Personal Introduction
As a GC, I have "forgotten" how to practice law like a big firm lawyer - on purpose. Gone are the days of problem spotting and blocking innovation. Today's entrepreneur wants a lawyer that will identify risk, reduce it where possible, and find a path forward. Prior to my career in law, I spent nearly eight years as a Navy Pilot, and Combat Veteran of Operation Desert Storm.

Practice Summary
I am a General Counsel with over 20 years of experience helping companies from startup, through growth and IPO/acquisition. As General Counsel of LegalZoom from 2003 to 2020, I built out and led a team of up to 15 legal professionals, running corporate, IP, litigation, employment and legal product functions. After leaving in 2021, I co-founded the blockchain (Real World Assets) company Dinari, managing the complex legal and regulatory landscape of fintech, blockchain and broker dealer registration. Successfully raised $20MM through Seed and Series A rounds. I mainly consult with companies looking to build out a legal function and have even helped founders build their own internal departments. I actively consult for several legal technology companies.

What is Overture?
Overture is an attorney-to-attorney referral network. Vetted attorneys refer matters they can’t take on to trusted colleagues and earn fee splits when they do, expanding what every attorney can offer their clients.
