Personal Introduction

While he began his career in-house with several large insurance carriers – including Chubb Insurance and Kemper Insurance – handling international and domestic transportation losses, multi-party products liability claims involving significant injuries, and construction defect matters, he transitioned into a sophisticated international commercial practice. He has represented foreign individuals and entities operating in a variety of United States markets, handled commercial real estate leasing for both landlords and tenants, asset purchase transactions, corporate due diligence for a variety of deals, trademark prosecution and advice, liquor law compliance, and contract drafting for multiple industries – from equipment sales and leasing to employment agreements. In 2004, David moved to Houston, Texas and has continued to represent individuals and entities, domestic and foreign, in a wide variety of civil matters, including commercial litigation, admiralty and maritime claims, and business transactions. He represents clients in the litigation of oil and gas operating agreements, and advises both established and startup companies on operational matters. He also continues to represent insurers, including excess carriers as well as cargo underwriters. David received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California, Davis, and his law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law. During law school, he “AmJured” or made the highest grade in his class in bankruptcy. In 2017, his case – B Choice Limited v. Epicentre Development Associates, LLC, et al.; United States District Court, Southern District of Texas, 14-cv-002096 – won the #1 Top Texas Verdict for Intentional Torts (RICO) at $180,980,001. David is admitted to practice law in California, Texas, and New York. He is further admitted to practice in all federal courts in California and Texas, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Fifth Circuits.
