Personal Introduction

T. Edward (Ed) Welbourn, a former Orange County Deputy District Attorney, is the managing partner of Corrigan | Welbourn | Stokke, APLC. His firm’s practice is limited to criminal defense and is dedicated to the representation of individuals and businesses facing criminal investigation and / or prosecution in state and federal court. Ed and the firm are AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and he has been named to “Super Lawyers”, “The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyer” and “America’s Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys”. Ed’s practice focuses on individuals charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes in Orange County, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, and San Bernardino. He has successfully tried and defended hundreds of felony and misdemeanor cases, including, white collar/financial crimes, domestic violence, drug crimes, vehicular homicide, and DUI. Ed has also successfully tried and defended clients charged with the most serious and violent felonies including attempted murder, special circumstance murders, gang crimes, assault with weapons, and sexual assault. Ed has defended several high-profile jury trial cases involving special circumstance and/or death penalty cases including: People v. Edward Shin, People v. Larry Shin, People v. Skylar Deleon, People v. Tony Hernandez, and People v. Lewis Gray. His cases have been featured on Dateline NBC, ABC’s 20/20 and other nationwide and local media sources. Ed is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association and is the former Chair of the Criminal Law section. He is also an active board member of the Orange County Criminal Defense Bar Association. He regularly speaks to newly admitted members of the California Bar and is an active member of the Orange County Bar Foundation. He has been a keynote speaker at the swearing-in of several sitting Orange County judges. Ed received his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego and his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges. He is admitted to the State Bar of California (1999-present), United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, United States District Court for the Central District of California, United States District Court for the Southern District of California, United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Ed uses his strong trial and advocacy skills, negotiation ability, integrity, and client service to be successful. These talents are reflective of his invaluable range of experience, which he relies upon to obtain great results for his clients.
