Frank Gleason

Personal Introduction

Francis “Frank” Gleason, Jr. represents early-stage, closely held, small and mid-sized companies as well as individuals, focusing his practice on business and employment litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, and corporate compliance/risk reduction. Frank also serves as local counsel and outside general counsel to corporations. Frank has successfully represented corporations and individuals in state and federal courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings in claims involving breach of contract, Wage Act violations, breach of fiduciary duties, intentional interference with business relations, consumer protection statutes, deceit/misrepresentation, trade secret misappropriation, civil conspiracy, covenants of good faith and fair dealing, fraud, age discrimination, and promissory estoppel. Frank also represents corporations and individuals in the effective negotiation and drafting of executive employment agreements, technology ownership agreements, and technology licensing agreements. Frank began his career in the Marine Corps serving as an infantry officer and as a legal officer in an infantry battalion and then for a 3,000 man Marine regiment handling all investigations, courts-martial, non-judicial punishment, and administrative discharges of Marines during his active duty tour from 1982 – 1986 serving as an infantry officer in ground combat units as well as Communications Security Materials Custodian maintaining classified communications materials for regimental headquarters. Frank later served in the reserves (1986 – 1999) and volunteered and served on active duty for Operation Desert Storm (1991). Frank, who achieved the rank of Major, was educated in Marine Corps management and tactics in Quantico, VA, at Officer Candidates School, The Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, and Amphibious Warfare School. Following his active duty tour (1982 – 1986), Frank worked as litigation support for the Wall Street firm Davis, Polk & Wardwell on trial preparation and ten-week trial successfully representing the National Football League in United States Football League v. National Football League. Directly following law school, Frank was a member of the Commercial Litigation Group for the law firm Pepe & Hazard (merged with McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP), where he represented corporations involved in complex commercial litigation representing financial institutions, insurance companies, municipalities, construction companies, and privately-held corporations. He later worked in-house for a venture-backed medical device company, where he handled employment-related legal matters, managed outside general counsel and patent counsel, and managed vendor relationships, including the evaluation, negotiation, and drafting of vendor agreements. He has been practicing with the law firm of Gleason & Gleason for over the past 10 years. Frank is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B. Philosphy ’81) and University of Connecticut School of Law (J.D. ’89), where he was in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and was an Associate Editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law. While in law school, Frank was a summer clerk for U.S. District Judge Alan Nevas and worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, New Haven, Connecticut, where he researched federal law and drafted judicial opinions. Frank is admitted to practice in Massachusetts state and federal courts, has been admitted pro hac vice in numerous jurisdictions, including the Eastern District of Virginia, the Southernd District of New York, for various cases, is admitted to the First, Fourth and Seventh Circuit courts of appeals, is a member of the US Supreme Court Bar, and has practiced before numerous state appellate courts.
