James Cai

Personal Introduction

James Cai founded SAC Attorneys LLP after serving as in-house legal counsel for Yahoo! Inc. His practice focuses on corporate law, intellectual property, immigration, and estate planning. Mr. Cai believes in relationship lawyering and has a client-driven practice. He practices law the old fashioned way – giving each client this full attention with prompt responses, thorough research and analysis, aggressive representation and careful attention to details, in both transactional and litigation matters. As a result, most of his clients are repeat and long term clients, including individuals, small businesses, non-profit organizations and public companies. He has successfully represented leading companies and non-profit organizations such as Intel, Nokia Venture (now known as Blue Run Venture), HiSense, Webex, Yulong Group, OFO, Su Zhou Industrial Park, San Jose State University, and Ballet San Jose. Before founding SAC Attorneys, Mr. Cai served as in-house counsel for Yahoo! Inc. He also practiced law with Morrison & Foerster, LLP and Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich, LLP (now known as DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary), two of the largest law firms in California. Mr. Cai holds a Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, graduating in the top 5% of his class. Mr. Cai was selected as a member in Premier Lawyers of America, an invitation-only organization which recognizes the top 1% of attorneys in America, based on the criteria of case outcomes, legal experience, professional achievements, educational history, certifications, peer and client feedback, ratings and reviews, professionalism and ethics. In 2019, Mr. Cai was recognized by Association of American Trial Lawyers for excellence in business law. Mr. Cai is admitted to practice in California, United States District Court for the Northern District of California, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
