Joon represents clients on a variety of matters including partnership disputes, business litigation, and real estate litigation. He has represented individuals and small businesses, as well as Fortune 5, 100, and 500 companies in the public utility, energy, and advertising industries. His practice is wide-ranging and involved advising his clients on matters as diverse as wrongful foreclosures and shareholder derivative lawsuits, personal injury and products liability defense, eminent domain, inverse condemnation, breaches of contract, Federal and California credit reporting act violations, and applications of the Public Utility Code and Commercial Code. Successfully appealed on behalf of a public utility on an issue of first impression clarifying the scope of Public Utilities Code section 7952 to allow public utilities recovery for damage to equipment and facilities in which they share partial ownership, which led to a favorable six-figure settlement in favor of client. Recovered six-figure settlement in favor of building owners against national elevator company even despite presence of significant contractual limitations on liability even in cases of negligence and gross negligence. Part of team that represented a public utility in connection with catastrophic damage to power transmission towers and lines in Northern California and resulted in a seven-figure settlement in favor of client. Successfully defended directors of a privately held corporation against a shareholder derivative lawsuit filed by a minority shareholder and lender, including prevailing on motions for preliminary injunction and for the appointment of receiver, resulting in clients maintaining control and ownership of company. Prevailed on summary judgment against multiple parties seeking recovery from public utility under theories of negligence and inverse condemnation related to a fire in Northern California.
