He successfully co-founded a federally chartered bank, The National Bank of Northern Virginia and its holding company, The Northern Virginia Banking Corp. Also been engaged in a governmental relations practice involving national issues regarding executive and legislative branch representation, as well as various regulatory agencies. He has supervised corporate governmental relations programs and represented various trade association, venture capital, banking, business and economic interests. He served as General Counsel to the national campaigns of Presidents George H.W. Bush and Gerald R. Ford, and as special counsel to Vice President Bush. He was twice appointed by President Reagan to The Advisory Committee for Trade Negotiations, the senior advisory panel to the President on foreign trade issues.
